Dr. Lilian W. Waiboci is a senior lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. She teaches Biochemistry and Molecular Immunology to undergraduate and postgraduate students and conducts research on zoonotic pathogens. She has sixteen years’ experience in enhancing laboratory systems and diagnostics as well as in surveillance and response to infectious disease outbreaks of national and global health concern. She is currently engaged in providing technical support for the establishment of genomic surveillance at the Kenya National Influenza Center with support from US CDC and in implementing One Health solutions with support from Capacitating One Health Eastern and Southern Africa (COHESA) program.

Dr. Waiboci has participated in WfOH activities since its inception. She was appointed to lead the partner secretariat at the Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (CEBIB) at the University of Nairobi in January 2024. She has spearheaded recruitment of many members, participated in a panel discussion on gender equity, translated the barriers survey into Kiswahili, and participated in several other WfOH activities.

Dr. Waiboci has a BSc and MSc. in Biochemistry from the University of Nairobi and a PhD in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida.
