Secretariat member’s experience – Short interview with Community Manager Kim Weiszhar

Can you share a moment or discussions that stood out during the meeting?

“One of the discussions that really stood out to me was about terminologies. It was incredibly fruitful and fascinating. We delved into how crucial precise wording is and the various perspectives one must consider to grasp that certain terminologies can be misunderstood or even harmful. These discussions enriched me greatly and taught me a lot about the importance of clarity and sensitivity in communication.”

How did the meeting help in strengthening the collaboration among secretariat members?

“In my opinion, the in-person meeting boosted our teamwork. Being face-to-face made communication more effective and nuanced. Additionally, we got on the same page about our goals and vision during the meeting. Talking it out together made us feel more united and committed to what we want to achieve together.

When it came to problem-solving, being together in person was a game-changer. We could brainstorm and tackle challenges, which resulted in more efficient solutions compared to virtual meetings. Plus, the cultural exchange was lovely. Meeting face-to-face allowed us to deepen our understanding and respect for each other’s backgrounds, which helped us work together smoothly and empathetically.

And let’s not forget the team building in general by just hanging out together outside of the meetings, enjoying the breaks, visiting the cafeteria together, just chatting. Spending time together in person also helped us build stronger personal connections and trust. When you’re in the same room, you can bond and feel more confident in collaborating openly and honestly.”
