The Africa One Health University Network (AFROHUN) held its 4th International One Health Conference at the Emara Ole Sereni Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, from April 24th to 26th, 2024. The conference, theme was “The Role of Regional One Health University Networks in Advancing Global Health Security” and gathered over 300 global One Health practitioners, scientists, students, and young professionals. It focused on addressing One Health challenges related to climate change and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Three members of the WfOH Network secretariat attended various conference sessions, and our two community managers Hellen Kariuki and Leila Dusabe presented a poster showcasing the network and inviting attendees to register. As a result, 55 participants signed up to join the network. Dr. Lilian Wangechi Waiboci participated in a panel on “Gender, Climate Change, and AMR: “Where Are We and What Are We Missing,” where she shared her valuable insights on the topic.
